I finished Cardinal Ratzinger's On the Way to Jesus Christ, a very good, very heartening collection of sermons and reflections. Currently I am working my way through a collection of the epistles, writings and martyrdoms of the Apostolic Fathers, put together and edited by a snippy British fellow named Maxwell Staniforth. Up to this point, my experience with these writings has been through qoutes and commentaries on their works by later theologians and historians, and it is good now to see the breadth of their work, and the context. And lastly, I am on the final hundred pages or so of Mann's Magic Mountain. I can't remember the last time it has taken me so long to finish a book! Ah, but each moment has been worth the slothful, drawn-out work. Really!
